The T20 World Cup is coming to India, yes it is coming to India.
Dhoni and his men made the impossible possible bringing joy and happiness to all the fans. They have given us a reason to smile again.
All the disappointment of the world cup exit has been washed off .

BTW,then beat Pakistan in the finals, continuing the history of not loosing to them ever in a world cup match.

Who would have believed at the starting of this tournament that India as well as Pakistan would make it to the finals, well the writing in on the wall and they have indeed made it beating New Zealand and Australia in the semi-final.
Pakistan has only lost to India so far and India has only lost to New Zealand so far, beating England ,South Africa and Australia to their road to the finals.
India came back strongly after its loss to New Zealand,I still have nostalgic memories of Yuvraj hitting 6 sixes in a over against England,it was a rare thing.
Next came the game against South Africa in which India had to play with out Yuvraj,in which the new kid on the block Rohit Sharma announced his presence, and with some great bowling by RP Singh India won knocking out South Africa who were unbeaten in the tournament.
India had an uphill task called 'the Aussies' staring at their face, but again with some splendid batting by Yuvraj and excellent spell by Shreeshant India ran down the Aussied which has pitched one of the greatest battles in world cricket.

Well this is what the scorecard read yesterday, an unusual site to be witnessed in the game of cricket,well India played Pakistan is its first match of T20 World cup, as the first match against Scotland was washed off due to rain.

And I must say, this match was one of the greatest Indo-Pak games that I have seen. Coming back to the match,India had a faulty start and kept on loosing wickets at regular intervals, thanks to some good batting by Robin Utappa, Dhoni, Pathan, India managed to reach 144 in 20 overs. The game was stopped at a number of times due to rain but it didn't hinder the game ,in fact it added spice to the on-field antics. When Pakistan came into bat, they looked good but midway they lost wickets and the asking rate went on increasing, at one moment of time India thought it had a victory at its hands when Shahid Afaridi was out but then the new lad Miabah took the game to a thrilling end but could only manage a draw.

India and Pakintan had already qualified for the next round, and now the tie breaker was for 2 points to lead the group ,and to do so , a BOWL-OUT was to be done. This was the first time in my 10 years of been a cricket spectator ,I was witnessing this phenomenon. The Pakistani's looked clueless at this and the Indians had already prepared for such a sitaution ,so they won 3-0 at the bowl out ,with 3 points leading the groud-D.

The World of T20 Cricket

My eyes haven't had much exposure to T20 Cricket ,and this world cup of Twenty-twenty will do just that,show us how,the game of cricket can be played with each side batting for 20 overs, it promises slam-bang cricket where the batsmen will have a field day and the bowlers will have to hide their faces often.

I hope all the fans enjoy the game of cricket in its latest avatar and here's also hoping the it makes more heads turn than before.

India's tour to England this year was marked by some really good performances , some excellent display of batting and bowling,the fielding though still needs improvement.

Starting with the test matches, the first was washed off due to rain when England was standing on the door step of victory ,I guess the rain gods answered the prayers of all the Indian fans on that day.
The second was brilliantly won by India thanks so some really good batting by Sachin,Saurav and sharp bowling by Zaheer. Well victory was snatched from the India's in the third test ,owing to some splendid batting by the Englishmen.
India won the series 1-0 with all the guns firing geared by for the ODI's.

Coming to the ODI's, India was down 3-1 , but managed to pull two victories to set by a final , which it eventually lost. England won the the series 4-3 .
A special mention of the 6Th ODI, it was a thriller to watch, bought back memories of the Nat west series-04 final.A cricket fan can not ask for anything more.
Next up in the 20-20 world cup, lets see what it has in store for us.

Rejuvenation of team India
After the reprehensible exit of team India from the world cup, a series triumph against the South Africans which is ranked as the second ODI team in the world, is a welcome reprieve for all the Indian fans.
India went into this series as the underdogs without a coach and plagued by injuries to some strategic players, amid rumors of throng groupism and nepotism in the team. But this series marked the ambush of young blood and the resurgence of the old charms of the seniors in the team. The team looked a better unit in every department be it batting, fielding, bowling.
Coming back to yesterday's match, it was reduced to 31 overs thanks to the rain delay.
The Indian bowlers did a good job in retaining the run treat of the South Africans to a decent 148 runs and thanks to the heroics of yuvraj singh India was home with a victory and a much needed moral booster.
This is just the beginning with the up coming matches against Pakistan and the England tour, it’s a steep climb ahead for the Indians .if the keep on the current momentum going there is no stopping them.
Here’s wishing them many a wins in the future.

After the entire COACH DRAMA, Inida fianlly ended up without one. Coming back to the seires the team selection hasnt empresses many , after the world cup ,the selectors should be giving chance to new players but we stil see the old horses playing the matches. We still relie on the Sachin's and Saurabh's to win matches for us .

India lost the fisrt ODI but managed to pull out victory from the 2nd one,all thanks to Sachin Tendulkar,he also attained the peak of being the only batsmen in the world to score over 15,000 runs in ODIs. But just building records won't help him silence his critis which also includes me, unless and untill he delievers on a regular basis.

Lets see what happens in the 3th ODI ......

Was anybody even watching ???

Yes I am talking about the recent test match series in which India played Bangladesh,and won the second test, the one in which four batsmen made centuries.
BUT was anybody even watching it ,I didn't ,not even a single ball.
I don't think ,India avenged its world cup loss by this victory. It still has a long way to go before the fans start believing in the team again.

HOW BORING

The current test match,which India played against Bangladesh ,was so boring and dull ,that even if somebody would have paid me to watch it ,i wouldn't have done it. With the rain playing spoil sport again ,the match went down without a result.The only thing which would record this test would be the very forgettable centuries made by Sachin and Saurabh .Which bring me back to the same old question ,why couldn't India beat Bangladesh at the World cup ????

TOUR DE BANGLADESH

About a year ago,if there was a series between India and Bangladesh,none of us would have watched it with that keen interest as we did in the current series,because all of a sudden a minnow country like Bangladesh is no longer a minnow after the stunning defeat India suffered at its hands at the world cup .
People are calling it a revenge series ,but for me two wins against them now, is of no consequence. It should be a platform for debutant's and fresh legs to join the Indian band .Piyush Chawala and Gautam Gambhir have already made their presence left.And with Dhoni coming at number 3 and getting runs up the order might just go a long way in ensuring India's success in the future.
I hope the selectors rope in more players and just not stick to the old horses.
We the fans just might be able to get over the shock that we got at the world cup by India's consistent performance.

The curtain was drawn to yet another World cup ,with the Aussies bagging the top honour making it thrice in a row.
Coming back to the final,the rain delayed the match and robbed it of 12 overs.And with the onslaught of Adam Gilchrist who went on making a brilliant 149 of just 104 balls,the Lankans were on the back foot from the word go, though they did a good job in retailing the Aussies on 281.The Lankans had a few initial hick-ups but the Jayasuriya-Sangakara duo kept the hopes of the Lankan fans alive.But the rain clouds bought bad luck for the Lankans and with Jaysuriya gone and the asking rate touching 10 there was no way home for the Lankans, and the Australians again showed their might by being invincible at this World cup.

This World cup was spread over 49 days with 51 matches being played,and frankly speaking after India was out I just caught up with the semi-finals and the finals.
But this world cup has witnessed many thing which never happened before, teams like India and Pakistan going out in the first round,minnows like Bangladesh and Ireland making the best of it, couch being murdered etc.I think this World cup would go down in history for these reasons more that what happened on the Cricket field.

It also was also the end of great careers of the likes of Glen Mcgrath, Brain Lara, Anil Kumble, Inzamam and you never know may be of Sachin Tendulkar too.

At the end of I would just like to say that this was a much needed wake up call for all of us ,I just hope that we make a point in taking a lesson from this,and make the best possible efforts in bring the world cup home next time as its being played on our own soil.
I know I being far to optimistic but being a loyal cricket fan I just cant help myself but believe that my team will rise and shine once again .

The biggest battle of Cricket in here ,with both Australia and Sri Lanka up in arms against each other pinning for the World Cup.
Australia has once beaten the Lankans in the series and may be this time around the Lankans will show some improvements and give a tough fight to them, bringing the their dominance under threat.

The last time I remember watching a Cricket was when India lost to the Lankans and were knocked out from the world cup,after that I just lost interest in Cricket.Now its time to get over it because the world cup is at its peak and with just 3 more matches to go,I don't wanna miss on any more fun.
Today is the first semi-final between the Lankans and the New zealanders ,my fingers are crossed for the Lankans and I just hope that they go all the way to victory.

After all the feed backs I got over a couple of days ,it is now that everybody has finally accepted India's fate at the world cup.Everybody was really taken aback by India's performance this world cup,be it the media,the fans,BCCI,the sponsors,the fans,in fact the players themselves as no one was expecting such an early exit.Crores of money was riding on them which has now gone down the drain , I am sure the sponsors will take due consideration before signing huge deals with the players from now on.
This also teaches us,a cricket crazy nation ,that after all CRICKET is just a sport,in which somebody will loose and somebody would win.Winning and loosing in just a part of the game, we should treat it as JUST A GAME, and not treat the players as gods but as a bunch of human beings doing their best in the sport.

A tale of a broken Cricket HEART

The Cricket World Cup is underway ,this is something for which i was waiting for a long time ,''last time the Indian team made it to the finals,and since then i was waiting for the next one to begin,i was so sure of India doing well this time around, but fate had something else in mind. ''In fact I had planned my vacations around the world cup matches'' 'never once i thought that ,that India won't make it past the group stage.
With the India out of the world cup , my interest in the world cup has just faded away, 'i haven't watched even one match after it properly, for crying out loud'.May be ill catch up again with the semi-finals.
Coming back home,now that everything is over ,the blame game is on, everybody is trying to dust off of the responsibility of the loss.Dirty laundry is been showed off in public and the media is making a mockery of it all.
Here I would just like to say that, we the fans of Cricket are already really disappointed by the way our team performed and we don't want any more controversies ,all we want is a rejuvenation of the team .

After a day of mourning and sadness finally I am in a position to write again,its now that its sinking into me that India is out of the world cup''INDIA IS OUT OF THE WORLD CUP''.Yup this is true and the sooner we accept it the better,because the chances of Bermuda defeating Bangladesh is like the sun rising from the west''so please do not get your hopes up or burn the mid night oil today,else ull again have to go though the motions of sadness ,defeat and anger.

Coming to match ,the Indians started off well,but kind of let go towards the end,allowing Sri Lanka to make 253.I ought not comment on the batting .India lost and that's it '' as simple as that'',there no turning back now.
They disappointed millions of fans and they have to be accountable to us.

I actually got a blue billion tattoo on my arm ''which I am not been able to rub off'',that's a big irony right !!! ''THANK GOD'', I didn't get my hair colored blue.

A day after the shocking defeat of the Pakistani team at the hands of the Ireland resulting in their exit the world cup ,comes another shocking news of Couch Bob Woolmer's death. According to television reports he died in his hotel room ,and speculations are rift of an attempted suicide or a possible murder in order to keep the match fixing scandal under wraps.
God only knows what has happened and we will have to wait for other reports to come to in order to conclude the final cause of death.

Its been 2 days,and till now I haven't been able to come in terms with the fact that India lost to Bangladesh.India elected to bowl first after wining the toss'a decision which everybody is saying was wrong',then they were bundled out for a mere 191 runs. The bowlers also didn't show any killer instinct and Bangladesh was home with about 4 overs to spare.
They deserve full credit for their win because they out played India in every field be it bowling,batting,fielding.
Now ''done is done '',looking back dont make a difference ,the task for team India is cut out ,I hope they bounce back becuase an early exit of the the Indian team from the world cup means huge revenue loss in terms of advertising and marketig plus I am sure the Sony executives would be having sleepless nights too.
SO at this time of crisis ,lets stand by them and pray .

Well my previous blog www.sd02.blogspot.com called as ''SPORTS DIARY'' had a lot of posts on cricket,so my dear friends who read the blog complaint about not giving other sports enough coverage .And with the cricket world cup approaching I thought of edicating this blog to criket.
